Have you heard of habit stacking?
The idea is that if you pair a new habit with an existing habit, it makes it easier to adopt. For example, every day I make coffee first thing in the morning. So, from now on, I will make coffee and then hula hoop for 5 minutes. Do this every day for 21 days and it becomes a habit.
Fill in the blanks:
After / Before [CURRENT HABIT], I will HULA HOOP.
The reason habit stacking works so well is that your current habit is already hard-wired into your brain. There are patterns and behaviours you have built up over years. By linking your new daily hoop habit to an existing cycle, you’ll make it more likely that you’ll stick to the new behaviour.
